The wisteria seed pod paintings were created for the installation, "Memento (If These Walls Could Talk)," installed in 2006 in the Glyndor Gallery at Wave Hill (Bronx, NY) (please see "Installations"). Invited to develop an installation addressing the theme of survival, I became interested in the Chinese Wisteria vine that surrounds the gallery building, a plant that is over 100 years old and has survived three reconstructions of the site and one fire. The life size trompe l'oeil gouache paintings of wisteria seed pods are on translucent Japanese gampi paper.
